You are right, but we are talking about equivalence here, My first example is between µ4 / 3 and FF with a factor of 2
Unfortunately for APS-C the price and the weight do not change much

Or to compare µ4 / 3 with APS-C ( 600mm equivalent )
Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f/4 IS PRO Lens $2,899.00 3.25 lb / 1475 g
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 400mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens $11,196.00 8.36 ib / 3800 g

The Nikkors are out of reach for most of us.

why not compare a Nikon 300MM PF F4 with the m4/3 300F4

Nikkor 300M F4 1999.. so almost  a grand cheaper and   about half the weight at 1.7 Pounds  and then compare shooting birds in flight with them... I Used 4/3rds and m4/3rds for birds for years cant even come close to what the D500 can do on moving subjects, as a matter of fact I rarely even got a keeper with it, many times I blew so many good oportunities.. I guess if you shooting still subjects your all set, you can add a 1/4X and still be cheaper and get 420MM.. to each his own... also you can get  a 500MM pf at about same weight for less than a grand more... 750MM equiv and much faster

dont forget dynamic range as well.. I could never bring up shadows in 4/3rds the way I can with the D500.. Im sure things have gotten better with them since I used my EM1, I still have it but its for wide angle snapshots only
