The shutter speed has to be high enough to stop the motion, and that depends on how fast the subject is moving... but for a child I'd guess a 500th would be fine. If you open the aperture as much as possible and jack up the film speed to 3200 you ought to get a good exposure, but if that doesn't do it then more light will be needed.  I have a T-10 and I think it's great, but no camera performs well without adequate light... and of course the zoom lens you're using is rather slow... a prime with an F 1.2 or 1.4 bottom end would be MUCH better for indoor or lower-light stuff !
