Hi Peter,

difficult question, because these are similar but also quite different lenses.

First I would separate the 2.8 zoom because of price. Great lens but only needed when you do action/sport, fashion/weddings or also concerts. These kinds of photography need fast optics.

If you go into direction of landscape you normally don‘t need 2.8, an f4 or less is fast enough. But for landscape you also are

The price of the Sigma is very good and it is worth the money. I don‘t know the 70-300 and 70-200/f4 in detail and if these lenses are better in the same way in relation to the higher costs.

My recommendation: start with the 100-400 for the lowest price. Learn what you want and what you need for your photography. It will do the job and maybe 300 or 400 is fine or maybe much to much focal length for you. But you will not know until you tried! So maybe you will stay with the 100-400 for years or you will switch to the 4/70-200 at a certain point. But a forecast today is difficult if not impossible…
