Re: Use the Nikon D7100 or Nikon D780 for long range wildlife shots?

Here's a few more bits of information about the available camera bodies and the shoot:

If I use the D780 I would not set image size to DX, instead I would crop as necessary afterward using Lightroom.

The D780 shoots at 12fps, the D7100 at 7fps.

The buffer size is about 3x bigger in the D780.

Correction: The light sensitivity of the D780 is 8X better than the D7100 (I originally said it was 4X better).

When the cranes come in they are gliding (don't have concern over flapping wings).

At times, the cranes come in directly overhead and low (maybe only 25 meters up). Using the D7100, even at 150mm on the zoom lens, is too much magnification to capture the moving targets.

Prints would be no larger than 13" x 17", mostly 8" x 10".

Thanks for all your input!
