Is a Nikkor AF 80-200 2.8 D ED good for birds with D7200

I have a chance to buy this lens used/reconditioned for a very good price but am wondering if it will be good for BIF and wildlife. It gets extra reach with my crop sensor Nikon but will it be enough.

Do any of you have experience with this lens on an APS C camera? It’s very high  quality at 2.8  I think, but I get confused with 70-200 and 80-200 pro lenses…

Thanks!
