Some tests of the Nikkor Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S on a Nikon Z 7II

I was looking to see what effect stopping down had on diffraction. So I processed the raw (14-bit lossless NEF) files in Adobe Lightroom CC 2021 and made the composites in Photoshop CC202. On the left is a full-frame view, and on the right, a 100% resolution crop of the center of the same frame. The lens was manually focused, the camera was tripod-mounted, and IBIS and VR were turned off.

At the distance I was at to the subject, the reproduction scale was 1:4, and this meant the widest aperture effectively is f/4 and the smallest f/45, instead of f/2.8 and f/32, respectively, at distances greater than 1:8.
