This is an interesting thread. I had a Fuji S2 before getting a D200, which I used to do weddings. Both those cameras are only good until about ISO 800.

I also had the S5 when the local store was blowing them out for less than half the regular detail price. It was much slower than the D200 (2 fps down from 3 fps if using auto dynamic range vs 5fps), and the batteries weren't cheap (as they're slightly different from the Nikon ones. The workaround here is to find the grip and use AAs.

12MP used to be good, but almost every Nikon made since about 2009 will beat it in almost every way. JPGs from the J5 were good, but the best quality is from raw files -- the problem here is that those Fuji raw files are not so easy to convert, especially with older software at that time. I was much happier with my D300 and D300S, so soon sold the S5 and never looked back.

So, for hobby or occasional use, the S5 would do fine, with some caveats.

My S5Pro will come Grip, but I don't know if it will the AA magazine includes, too. If don't come I can buy in separately, after. It's good this accessory? How many shots by charge when use it with AA battery?

I had one D300 and I cound't be so happy with it, because of one massive and incorrigible dark shadows pressing his pictures when subexposes - even in minimal, type -3. Only when I used the D300s I understand 'cos the Nikon has released a second version in so short time: in her "new" these intensive and asphaltic blacks are dead and the shadows aren't stay so useless to recovered.

Yes! My S5 will be to hobby, and fun, only.
