This is exactly the reason why I returned the 70-350 and kept my good old 70-300. Also, in my case, the 70-300 was a wee bit sharper at 300mm than the 70-350 at 350, and the IQ at the longest focal length is important for me.

Even with the close-focus issue, the a6600 allows some tight cropping, so I still get some "closeups" while standing 5 feet away.
