Pileated Woodpecker takes a sip
18

One of the main reasons I posted this is to continue to tout my joy of this new "compact" system I have been using. The combo of the M1 II and 100-300 Pana is winning me over. It is just so easy to carry around - it feels like nothing is over my shoulder if I am hiking with it.

Also, as my walk around shutter speed setting is usually at 1/1,000 due to the birds that I look for are usually flying or things are often moving, I am quite satisfied when I forget to lower it for shots like this, and ISO 6400 still looks darn good. Here is a perfect example of that. This is also a very significant crop - I am adding a crude screenshot of my crop board so you can see how severe this crop is.

Sadly I forget to drop my shutter speed fairly often as things usually happen so fast. I have to work at that.
