Re: RF 100-500 Also Backordered

OK, I'm not usually a whiner, but here goes. I ordered the R5 and RF100-500 from B&H on May 30. R5 delivered right away, but 100-500 backordered. And almost 4 months later, it's still not in.
But here's the realy annoying part. Amazon is currently showing 19 lenses in stock at $3,443.97. This is a $2800 lens, so Amazon is scalping it at a $650 markup. Both seller and shipping is Amazon, not an affiliate. I have never known Amazon to scalp anything before.
I have been monitoring this lens on Amazon and the number in stock is increasing! Just this morning they showed 18, and now this afternoon it's at 19. A couple of days ago I believe it was single-digit numbers in stock. So it is clear that Amazon has a stream of these being delivered. But what about B&H? Do they have a stream of them too, but just aren't delivering them to me?
During the time since I ordered on May 30th, the price has increase $100. I paid $2700, and the current price is $2800. I wonder whether they are shipping the $2800 orders before the $2700 orders to make more money.
Anybody else received one from B&H lately?
I ordered the RF100-500 on April 28th, and it shipped on August 5th or about three months and one week. So if this holds, you would hopefully get one soon. From what I have seen, the lenses seem to come in batches. I have had a couple of lenses from BHPhoto ship soon after Amazon or Shop.Canon got them.
Unfortunately, nothing is totally predictable these days. There are not only chip shortages but massive shipping problems. You can bet that the retailers would like to ship them if they could get them.
Kind of strange behavior for Amazon proper, but as you wrote, that is on the listing. According to https://www.cpricewatch.com/blog/authorized-unauthorized-dealers-and-grey-market-explained/, Amazon is an authorized retailer that limits how low a price they can charge (The MAP), but I don't know if they are allowed to charge more. BHPhoto skirts the issue with their Paybooh card by paying the sales tax, which amounts to about an 8% discount. One would think that the other major Canon outlets would be complaining if Amazon gets more units that they can sell at a higher price.
