Mirror lenses?
1

Has any traveling photographer thought of revisiting mirror lenses?

They are light and portable. We know that. We know that wildlife and certain sports photographers have special needs for big fast lenses, but traveling photographers including journalists in difficult places have to keep their distance and move fast.

Now that high iso digital speeds are a reality, image stabilization is part of Z bodies, and AF works with small apertures, it is a propitious time for the rebirth of the Reflex telephoto (designed by Nikon’s Tsunashima). An AFS 500 mm f8 Reflex VR will become more useful than it ever was, stabilized and with AF. The unusual bokeh now could be optionally corrected digitally in camera (like Apple ‘portrait mode’). I personally liked how it rendered blades of high Savannah grass like impressionist painting but that is a personal preference. Currently it could be the most practical super telephoto lens that would appeal to serious amateurs, travelers and photojournalists in chaotic places. Please take it into consideration.
