ECAF confusions.

The comments sections for the R3 launch news is filled with comments from people that don't seem to understand that ECAF is just an AF point selection functionality, nothing else.

I was, however, surprised with this statement form an high-level pro tester like Jeff Cable:

"During some sports though, the Eye Control AF wasn’t locking in fast enough for what I wanted, so I turned it off and went to back-button focus."

On the surface it seems like Jeff might also be confusing things (...what has an AF activation mode - BBF - to do with actual AF point selection?...) but, me being the non-pro here, I am wondering if there's another way to read that statement.

Any ideas?
