The Mini weighs about 2/3 of a pound. That's not as light as a Kindle Paperwhite (6.4 to 6.8 ounces), but it might be light enough to make holding the tablet like a book feasible.

A new Kindle Paperwhite has been announced for mid October.

USB-C charging, longer battery life, slightly larger screen, variable color temperature, more water resistant. Otherwise similar.

I wanted it to be narrower for easier handholding, but it is .3" wider. I'll wait for my current Paperwhite to fail before replacing.
