Determining the Curve Settings Used in a Curves Preset

In Boris Optics there are many film stocks one can choose to apply to an image imported from Photoshop. I watched a tutorial that explained how to determine what curves settings in Photoshop would produce this preset. Then one could save this curves preset in Photoshop to quickly apply to other images without having to go back into Optics. (Sort of reverse engineering.)

The tutorial was very fast and confusing. I have rerun it several times and don't understand. It did involve the use of history in Photoshop after the image (with the Boris preset applied) is exported back to Photoshop. Once back in Photoshop it appears as a layer.

Can anyone tell me how this might be done?
