Just took delivery of a used Nikon 35mm f/2D . Like it - it's light, compact, crisp enough, focusses quickly, and so on.

But it may have the beginning of oil on the aperture blades, or maybe it's something else.

The "oil" (or wear, or?) is easier to see with the naked eye; apparently I'm not good at photographing aperture blades... With the naked eye, the aperture blades appear normal matt grey, and the "oil" is darker and a bit shiny. Having said that, the blades are as snappy as any other lens I've tried.

Am I seeing oil or something else? If oil, I'll be returning promptly. Thanks for your help, I've never seen oil on blades before (in person) and just don't know what I'm looking at.

Possibly a thin layer of lubricating oil on the blades - I don't think it would affect your photo unless you can see evident of contamination on the lens elements
