NIKON INTRODUCES THE MOUNT ADAPTER FTZ II FOR ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE
AND COMPATIBILITY WITH EXISTING AND FUTURE Z MOUNT CAMERAS

The Quest of Excellence in Design and Functionality Continues

Melville NY -
Today Nikon announced the new Mount Adapter FTZ II, an elegant evolution of the original FTZ which enhances its usability with cameras with optional or integrated grips such as the recently revealed Nikon Z 9 flagship camera.
"Many creators told us that the foot of the original FTZ was interfering with the
operation of gripped cameras when they are held in the vertical position - we also listened to the particular needs of our customers in the Southern Hemisphere who needed to attach their FTZ to a tripod upside down. We believe we found an elegant solution that addresses both problems at once", said Judy Bayonnette, Senior Executive Vice President of Engineering, Nikon Inc.

The Mount Adapter FTZ II retains all the capabilities of the original FTZ, including the beloved 'hump' that houses the complex actuators responsible for setting the aperture of legacy Nikkor lenses. The only difference is that, instead of being positioned at 6 o'clock, the foot of the adapter is now in the 12 o'clock position.

"It was a complex engineering problem to solve, but we finaly realized that all we needed to solve this problem was a new orientation of the bayonet of the adapter. We think the customers will appreciate the new position of the 1/4" tripod hole as it provides an attachment point for many accessories, such as monitors and microphones - it also offers a unique way to mount the camera to a tripod in a 'vertically flipped' position, which is what we believe an industry first. Access to the battery compartment is also greatly enhanced thanks to this innovation".

Pricing and availability

The Mount Adapater FTZ II will be available starting later this fall (US) for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $299.95. For more information about the latest Nikon products, please visit nikonusa.com
