The Nikon 35mm f/2D is notorious for problems with oil on the blades.

I've read that. KR (I know, but he isn't wrong about everything) says it was solved in later runs, 2001 and up.

I sent my copy out twice for cleaning and did it once myself. The oil still returned.

Ouch. I've seen a youtube video about cleaning the oil off. Doesn't look too fiddly.  Not that I want to do anything like that if it can be avoided.

I sold the lens and replaced it with the AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G ED which is a much better lens in just about every way.

I agree re: optics, but I'm wanting small and light and video-friendly (the focus ring on the f/2D is much easier to manually pull focus with).

The pictures I showed - oil? Or is it unclear?
