D5500 exposure bug

Hello everyone,
this is my first post so I apologize in advance if I break any rule I'm not aware of!

The D5500 I own since the end of 2015 started having a bug in the last year and I would like to know if anyone else has experienced it and possibly knows a solution.

The setup:

  • manual mode (M)
  • manual ISO
  • manual focus
  • live view turned ON

I can now take a picture in two different ways:

  • with the physical shutter-release button
  • or by touching the screen (this feature has to be enabled)

The bug is that the two pictures have a different exposure, even though they are reported having the exact same parameters. This is not just an issue with the embedded JPEG preview: the two raw files are considerably different in exposure (like, around 1 stop).

From my estimates, the picture taken with the shutter-release button is the correct one, whereas the one taken with the touch-screen has the incorrect exposure. This happens also if I take a picture with the self-timer while the live preview is on, even if i take it by pressing the shutter-release button.

Has anyone else ever heard of this problem? Does anybody know a solution?
