Well, I certainly got myself into a pickle. I had no problem narrowing the field down to my favourite seven. That only took an hour or so. However, no matter how many times I look at those seven, I have a hard time singling out the best. They are all good in their particular way. I think that is the problem. A good photograph can have so many characteristics. My engineer's brain doesn't have an algorithm for qualitative factors.
So three hours later here goes!
Honourable mentions in no particular order.
Roger's Chimney Rock.

A beautifully captured rural scene with the lighting carefully handled.
Steve's road to the cornfield.

I kept coming back to this one, and every time my stomach felt the upcoming drop. As my daughter would say, it gave me the "jellies"
Sue Anne's photo of a farm in Lancaster.

Very nicely composed and photographed. I can't imagine the need for six horses though.
Richard's Grand Canyon.

How I would love to sit and look at that scene for a few hours. Great capture Richard.
Now for the top three. I've still been pondering this as I posted the preceding HM's.
Third place goes to Roger.

This bucolic scene is reminiscent of the Dutch Masters style in the 1600's. Such a serene scene. You can almost smell the fresh grass and feel a bit of mist in the air.
Second place goes to GetBG's Devetashka Cave.

First place goes to jraa's landscape.

I have no idea where this was taken, but I would sure like to go there! It is an excellently planned shot from a great vantage point. The colour tone works really well and you can certainly appreciate the depth of field.
Well done jraa ! The next mini-challenge is your's to host. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Thank you everyone for your great entries, and I promise to eventually forgive you for the trauma you caused me today
