A large park and runs down to Bullfrog and the Colorado River or at least used to as the river has shrunk over the years. Upper Cathedral lValley is my favorite and I have driven it both ways from the Burr Trail Drop-in.

Have you driven the Burr Trail? We're thinking of doing so in November. Would a Subaru Forester have trouble on it?

Can't imagine you'd have any issues, as long as you're aware of the type of road it is and are comfortable with it.

I live on a dirt road (actually sand and crushed rock) and we have quite a few unpaved roads with ruts along the sides. As long as a road is not deeply rutted or boulder strewn, I'd drive it.

Thanks for the advice!

Oh yeah, then you'll be good for sure!  There're a couple of tricky spots at the bottom but nothing compared to the road to South Coyote Buttes, Cathedral Valley Loop, Tusher Tunnel or Shafer/Potash Road.

There are great views from the top of the switchbacks outward.  The Long Canyon before you approach the descend is great to drive through also.

I lug my photo equipment everywhere. Is it heavy? Yes. Is it uncomfortable and cumbersome? Absolutely. Is it often an inconvenience? You bet. But is it all worth it? Sometimes...
