Of the available big zooms for A-mount Sony 70-400 is a great option, hands down. Its my favorite of the bunch.

Another option would be Tamron 150-600, where G1 is good and G2 is slightly better than previous generation. Though crop-ability at 600mm isn't great, so if you fill the frame you will get some good pics.

But as you have an E-mount body, I would say move in that direction instead as there are some good options available for all budgets like Sigma 100-400 at the lower end, Tamron 150-500 & Sigma 150-600 in the middle; with Sony 200-600 and Sony 100-400 at the top tier. From what i have seen, your E-mount camera with a native lens, you would have lot more keepers when compared to A99.
