Professional photography vs. shooting on auto

So I’m kinda curious what the balance should be for a professional photographer and the tools to help achieve the shot. We all need “Technology” to help us get the shot we need. At which point is “Auto” and “Technology” actually slowly moving us out of business? All because camera manufactures need a new selling propaganda.
We now have fantastic sensors, ISO, DR, and good glass across-the-board to get our job done.

I feel the new R3 era would soon be in the hands of a teenager shooting sports and what not. All on “Auto”

Think about it.
