The first one was back lit (sometimes you have to take what the critters  give you), the heron stayed around for a few minutes and turn into a direction where he was front lit.  I think the first shot has a nice mood,

When did you shoot Larry? It is probably a heron, a typical bird for this area.

I shot these in June 2013.  I was taking flower pictures at a garden in this park, using the 105mm OS macro lens and decided to walk over to the lake in this park.  The heron was fishing near the shore and let me take a few shots, below is the last image I got as he flew away
