Important things to look for in a tripod:

A) weight
B) price
C) stability
D) height

Sadly you can't have all 4....you will need to compromise on one or more of them.

I would compromise on the price and buy a durable light, tall and stable but expensive tripod. It should last longer than the inevitable series of numerous compromised tripods you'll have to buy if you seek to compromise on price. A good tripod can last for decades.
