Why "Yuck"?

On a DSLR with a lens faster than about f2.5 the extra shooting lens brightness does not get brighter in the optical viewfinder - as DSLR viewfinder optics act as a second aperture no brighter than about f2.5.

ML viewfinders are at least 4 stops brighter than a DSLR - making f8 in an ML viewfinder brighter than as f2.8 on a DSLR.

At £699 launch price in the UK this Canon is about 33% of the Nikon 80-400 F street price.

For those who do not have a £2,000 budget - this Canon lens is an option not readily available to Nikon photographers.

In lots of ways good photography is much more about how equipment is used rather than anything else.
