What compact for video (and photo)?

Hi all

I do videos mainly outdoor just for the fun, not professionally. I am no doing action video either. Currently it's with my smartphone and a Hohem gimbal but it has many shortcomings. I also use sometimes my Sony RX10 M3 which is very capable for video but is so heavy I need a tripod, so it has limited applications. Therefore I need a light weight (less than 0.7lb) cam to use with a gimbal. I still own an old Canon G15 which would be OK if only it could be remotely controled (by the gimbal).

My specs are:

  • Weighs less than 0.7lb
  • No rolling shutter
  • No distortion
  • Uncropped 4K
  • No duration limitation
  • Microphone port
  • Works with most gimbals (remotely controled)
  • Price around $800
  • Good as a still cam

I studied the current offer and selected these two:

• Sony ZV-1

  • Vlogging oriented
  • Good autofocus
  • Articulated screen
  • Compatible with most gimbals
  • Shipped with a deadcat for the mics

  • Seems very point-and-shoot type (all controls are via the menus?)
  • Very few physical controls
  • I read it has a rather perceptible rolling shutter
  • Short zoom range

• Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III

  • Has an exposition compensation wheel
  • Good zoom range
  • Fully tilting screen
  • Currently with a 15% rebate on Amazon.fr

  • Weak at 24mm
  • Overheats
  • AF issues
  • Not all gimbals can work with it

What's your take on that, folks?
