No, because it wasn't meant as an explanation of all those abbreviations for new users of the system, but as a (fairly typical) abbreviation used by those already familiar with the system.


The way Nikon have structured their lens naming system means that this subject is always going to be complicated. Sadly, attempts to simplify it (even when well-intentioned) tend to create confusion.

I could only repeat myself, so important parts highlighted in bold letters instead.

Yes - but so are AF and AF G lenses.

Yes, true. But the discussion was (at some stage): do "AF-D" lenses have built-in motors? For you and me, they don't, right? And also for many others. That was my whole point.
