The driven mechanical focus draws more than the stepper motors used in modern lenses.

Not all Nikon AF lenses are modern. And only a small fraction of them uses stepper motors. I doubt turning this screw requires more power than moving the focus unit in any of the big guns.

How will you control the aperture? If you are going to deal with all the older lenses you will need to come up with a way to deal with that with a greater degree of control and precision than banging a lever up against a stop.

Why? That lever is on any AF lens except the latest E lenses. And already supported by the existing FTZ.
