I’m not sure if it Canon manipulating supply or the true shortage but what ever it is it’s keeping pricing at its highest level and still Canon is doing a price increase. I’m shooting both Canon and Sony and think Canon is trying to manipulate the shortage. I don’t come away with the same feeling from Sony. Mid pandemic Sony introduced the 35/1.4 GM, 50/1.2 GM, and the 14/18 GM all at lower prices than Canon has or would have.  And for me personally I prefer an excellent 35/1.4 that is smaller, lighter and $1000 cheaper than a 35/1.2L. Will see also how Sony’s 105mm f/1.4 GM is priced compared to Canon’s $2700 RF 85/1.2L. The excellent FE 135/1.8 GM was only $1800 when it came out (and I bought it).

So Sony’s GM series is almost $800-$1000 per lens cheaper than Canon that allows you to easily spend the savings on an Alpha 1 that is $2600 more than the EOS R5.

That is why I’m not 100% committed to going back to Canon and keeping a foot in both camps.
