True, but that is value of £350 back then, so only true if it costed that in Britain back then. The currency movements also work the other way round, I am suspecting it costed much less than that in GBP back in the day. The yen to USD equivalence still puts it at $1800 today, so if that held to pound too, I would say about £1300 or so (which we know isn't how it all tuned out)

No, as I said before, UK inflation has been different from US inflation. The F-1 plus 50mm f/1.8 lens was about £225 then; the FTbN with the same lens was £165. £1 in 1975 was the equivalent of £10.50 in 2020. (And £1 in 1974 was worth £12.20 in 2020; the pound's purchasing power (value) effectively halved between 1975 and 1980.)
