Indeed, since the Fuji cams have a "USB Card Reader" setting (specifically for, one would think, connecting directly to a computer), it would be nice if it actually worked as such. I don't know if Mojave would detect the camera in Finder, but in Big Sur it doesn't.

I booted my ancient Macbook Pro running High Sierra and connected my X100V to it. Nothing in Finder, but Image Capture detects it. Just like my newer iMac running Big Sur.

By the way, Mac's System Profiler shows the camera as a "USB PTP Camera", not USB Mass Storage which it would need to be for it to get mounted into the filesystem.

There is also evidence that using a card reader doesn't always work either (see the Pal2tech video on this subject in my first reply above).

For some reason Big Sur has refused to show SD cards titled "Untitled" in Finder's sidebar, but they have still been accessible on the Desktop and elsewhere in Finder. But... has Apple actually fixed this behaviour!? I just inserted an SD card from my Fuji into my card reader and there it is, in my Finder sidebar!
