I do regret going with the RP due to lack of viable third party choices and the prices of canon's own lenses and if I could go back I'd just wait to go mirrorless or go with a different brand.

You think so? I use the R5 with some EF lenses (the Tamron 70-200/2.8, and the old EF nifty fifty). I don't feel like the lenses are hurt by using them on the adapter, and I still get the benefits of the R5 without any worse performance than the lenses would have on the old DSLRs. (Although the RP doesn't have it, having IBIS for the 50/1.8 is nice, too.) To me, one of the reasons I went with the R5 was because it'd have a good amount of RF lens support in the future, while still having access to the EF lens library. There are plenty of third-party lenses there.

As for third-party lenses already on RF natively, I'll admit these are few and far between. If you want AF on RF, your only option is Rokinon/Samyang. (The lenses currently sold as Rokinon were formerly sold as Samyang, but it's the same stuff anyway.) There are rumors that some of the big third-party names will jump on board soon, but that's not confirmed. Still, I expect it to happen at some point, especially with the R5/R6 reaching greater popularity than the R/RP ever did.
