Upgrade camera to M6 mark II or acquire new lens instead?
3

Dear All,

I have been using my Canon M50 for the past 3 years, and I mostly uses it to shoot family photos, trip photos, animals, and landscape photos of scenery. It is my first camera and prior to owning it I was only shooting with my phone's camera.

I have some of the canon ef-m native lens (18-150mm, 55-200mm, 11-22mm, 15-45mm lens kit, 32mm f1.4) but not the canon ef-m 28mm, ef-m 18-55mm, and the ef-m 22mm lens.

I also have a Sigma ef-m 16mm which I really like for wide angle photos in low light condition.

I shoot in jpeg+raw but rarely do editing on the raw photos.

The reason for me of thinking to upgrade to the Canon M6 mark ii was because of its higher resolution sensor, and its more accessible control when shooting in manual mode. However, I would like to ask for your opinion if there would be any significant improvement in my still photos due to the higher resolution sensor. Will 32mp give me a much better photos?

Basically I am trying to figure out if it is a need or a want to justify if I really need to upgrade my Canon M50. 🤣

Or perhaps do you think it is better for me to acquire other prime lenses for my Canon M50 e.g. the Canon EF-M 22mm or the sigma 56mm? I rarely take portraits photo so I was thinking if I was to add the sigma 56mm I would probably use it as a short telescope lens.

Thanks for reading my thread.
