There is no adaptor from R to Z because the mount diameters are nearly the same.

However, the flange focal distance for the Z mount is only 16 mm, whereas for the Canon RF mount it is 20 mm So an RF to Z adaptor could be constructed.

Not when you include the depth of the bayonet. There is not enough room to accommodate the length of the R bayonet in the difference of 4mm in length and 1mm in diameter.

Since there are companies that quickly produce dumb adapters for every new mount, if an RF to Z adapter was possible we would have one by now. But it's not - there simply isn't room in either depth or diameter.

Ok, fair comment.  In DSLR days, Canon users could fit Nikon F-mount lenses, but not vice versa.  Now it seems neither party can use mirrorless lenses from the other.
