My R6's frequently lock up, 2-3 times across two bodies per wedding. The AF point disappears and I get it back either by hitting the trash can button, change mode or in some cases pull the battery.
I also get problems with EF lenses not communicating with the body that I put down to the adaptors (00 Aperture in the viewfinder).
And my 18 month old 24-70 jumps into manual focusing mode as of yesterday which seems to be fixed when I put it into IS 'on' on the lens barrel. So it's an electronic fault with the swiutch (assumed).
My RF 50 focus ring is stuck too.
TBH, I'm not entirely happy with the build quality of the RF lenses. I had problems with EF lenses but I've had just as many issues in total with RF lenses in two years as I've had with EF lenses in 12.
Wow, what does Canon say when you talk to them about the problem. I know longer shoot weddings but when I did I would find this completely unacceptable. If you are having this many lockups you may have something in your kit that has a hardware issue.
Have you tried to narrow down the cause certain combinations- lens/adapter/ flash (if any)?
I've not really investigated it as apart from the RF50 focus ring it's not a consistent thing to send in for. Like with the 24-70 yesterday it 'worked itself out'.
So I think it's just teething trouble at the design stage. Stuff works, just it seems to wear out. FAST. If it become regular and repeatable then it'll go in for service.
