Such standardization is not likely to work the way you envision... i.e. seamlessly.

The reason is differences in processing algorithms between processing programs. For example if you set the contrast in program A to "50" and then load the same file into program B you will most likely get a different result as the value of"50" for the contrast parameter is likely to be to mean something different in program B than it did in program A.

Thus the standardization you are looking for goes way beyond  reading the catalog (or side car file) created in program A by program B.

Such standardization is unlikely because of the tendency of engineers and programmers to want to do things their way rather the blindly copy a standard method... in other words creative folks tend to be creative!
