Hi,
I'm sorry - I can't work out exactly what question you're trying to resolve.
You've tried a few kit variations ranging from X100's to small lenses and large zooms. You are now interested in both a more compact kit and the forthcoming new fast lenses plus the 90mm. Surely opposing goals? And you've asked us what we pair our systems with. What we do does not matter. - What matters is what you want to achieve and why you may wish to pair your XT4 with something else. Or anything else. Pseudobreccia has suggested that you may have GAS. He may be right - it is difficult to rule out his diagnosis. Help us out..... What do you want to achieve with your photography?
Cheers, Rod
I guess I am trying to achieve a landscape travel kit and something more walkaround for use more locally, in tight cities/narrow streets, and when I want to travel light.
I'm comfortable with my X-T4 w/ 16-55, 70-300 as my landscape travel kit, backpack, tripod, filters, and all. Looking for an alternative kit for the latter use case, whether that is different lenses, bodies, or systems.
Thanks for the clarification. I use an XT4. I did have a 16-55 but didn't enjoy the size and weight on-camera, and re-sold it to return to primes. I kept the 18-55 as a grab and go social and travel lens.
I have a set of f1.4 primes - 16, 23, 35, plus one of the 50 or 60, and take them when I'm not worried by weight. When I want to hike or travel really light I take just the 16/2.8 and 27mm in a very small case. And maybe one of the 50 or 60 in the backpack. If I'm traveling overseas with family and friends, I take the 18-55 and 50-230. Zooms rule with family - no-one wants to wait (yet again) while you indulge your hobby at their inconvenience.
If I wanted to seek something even lighter, I would consider a second body to use the same lenses. If shedding weight was the key factor I guess I'd consider an XE4 - very small for 26mpx. Or maybe an XS10 - for the extra 100g over the XE4 you get IBIS, a built in flash and a grip. Yet another light option is a high grade compact, but that then gets into the debate about sensor size differences.... (I have a Canon G1X and use it off and on. It's not a bad camera.)
