I am not in the market for a pro body and even if was I would have zero use for 85 MP.

R1 will have around 20 - 30 MP because that is all that is needed by the fastest sports camera in the world.

There will be a super high res model, it won't be the R1.

I'd bet there would perhaps be a R1S to offer that higher Rez for those that consider that their priority. However I can't see HOW a 85mp FF sensor can be fairly low in noise as well, which frankly is a priority in a pro level camera.

Historically, there tends to be a small noise edge to FF cameras with lower pixel counts, but much of the perceived difference is illusory and due to the inequitable "100% pixel view", which magnifies sensor areas more for smaller pixels. The edge is actually not that large with FF cameras, if you normalize for image size and don't oversharpen the smaller pixels.

This isn't a mandate of physics, either, regarding smaller pixels. Current 20MP 1" sensors have less noise at high ISOs than 1" crops from the best FF sensors; the smaller pixels are adding less electronic noise to the same light input. There just seems to be something about the size of a FF sensor and the associated electrical readout and thermal properties that makes larger sensors less efficient with read noise in current practice, especially with smaller pixels. This is not a physical property of light, and may only be a temporary state, and someday small pixels will perform just as well (or better) in large sensors as they currently do in 1" sensors.
