After my last dive (2 years ago) I finally replaced my trusty (but incredibly conservative) Suunto Cobra2 with a Suunto D5. The D5 is a wristwatch computer with a separate wireless sending unit (pod) on the regulator.

Currently I have my sending pod attached directly to an HP port on my regulator, but there is a small optional hose (3 to 6 inches?) that can be used between the regulator and the pod.

Does anyone know where I can quickly get one in the US? (And for that matter, do I really need one?)

I'm concerned that someone lifts the tank by the pod and damages something without that little standoff hose. Can anyone with experience comment as to the usefulness of that little hose or the reliability of leaving the pod directly-connected?

I head to Roatan on Sep 24, assuming negative covid test.

Hi Craig,

I cannot help with own experience, since I use simple non-air integrated TC (Mares Puck Pro).

Here is the link to the Suunto Tank Pod quick manual, it explains how to install: https://ns.suunto.com/Manuals/Tank_POD/Quickguides/Suunto_TankPOD_QuickGuide_EN.pdf?_ga=2.164697467.513045464.1581334010-636456727.1578767810

It says that you can install either directly on the first stage or with hose. For direct installation on first stage the "Airflow Restrictor Type A" is compulsary required (In case this restrictor type A was not already with the tankpod, you get it at a Suunto dealer)...

Have fun in Roatan...

Wolfgang
