Editing 4K 10bit video from the X-T4, is it even possible?

I'm considering upgrading my X-T2 to a X-T4 because of the better video specs. However I'm worried that my computer can't handle the files coming from the X-T4.

The X-T4 can only shoot 4k 10bit video when it uses h265 encoding. Wich is great for compression, but not so good for editing performance. From what i have gathered h265 footage is almost impossible for most computers to handle so it seems that you almost have to transcode the footage into something like ProRes for it to be usable. This seems tedious and i don't really want to deal with that.

I'm hoping that some of you could share your experience working with 4k 10bit video from the X-T4 (or X-T3). Is it even possible to edit with? If not, I would also appreciate any workflow tips. Would for instance using proxies be easier? The X-T4 just seems like such a great all around camera and it kinda sucks that you have to deal with theese seemingly unmanageable files, but noone is talking about it. Maybe because all these youtubers have 5000$ editing rigs.

Also here are my specs:

RTX 2070s, AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and 16GB ram. I'm currently using premiere for editing but considering switching to DaVinci as it's better for color grading and possibly better performance. I heard that it is gpu accelerated so maybe that will help?
