Many thanks for posting and your detailed explanation.
May I just ask one question, why don't you use the XPro F trigger from Godox?
Kind regards,
Martin
I'm not the OP, but I've been doing the same thing as OP for awhile. For me, at the beginning, I wasn't using Off camera flash as much. So, I was happy using the TT350F to do double job (on camera flash, as well as occasional trigger for the Off camera flash). An additional gear (the trigger) mean extra spending - not worth it at that point in time for the amount of usage.
When I started to get more and more serious into studio style portraits with wanting more lights to the portrait, then an dedicated trigger make more sense and relinquish my TT350 as the backdrop light. Perhaps the OP has similar reasons?
You're close I do have a trigger, the X1TF. And I've been using it with the TT685. It's a nice trigger. But I'm doing a night wedding in a month that requires me to fly to the destination. I want to go as light as possible and having a trigger is just another thing for me to carry. I need the two flashes and since the TT350 will do everything I need it to do, why not get rid of the trigger from the travel bag? I know it's small, but I need as much space for batteries as possible the XT2 eats batteries for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Side note, I've been very impressed in my "testing" on how well the Godox did TTL metering. I come from Nikon and the 3rd party flashes didn't do well with the Nikon cameras, for me, you had to go with a Nikon flash if you wanted reliable exposure. I tried to trick the Godox several times to make sure each flash was working properly and the exposure seemed to come out fine with the XT2 and Godox. I don't use flash that much because I don't trust it and don't necessarily care for the results, but maybe I will try it more often with this 2 flash setup. It's my nephew's wedding, so I can get away with some experimentation (he's not paying me..., and you get what you pay for, right?).
