Can you set auto shutter/f-stop/iso within RANGE?

I'm doing timelapses so I need to use auto settings rather than manual, as the brightness difference between 6 AM dark city to 7 AM sunrise is so enormous.

However I really wish there was a way to tell the camera to auto decide within a custom range, so for example if the timelapse takes a photo every 5 seconds, I would like the camera to get to chose its own shutter speed, but never ever go beyond 5 seconds.

Is this possible?

The only thing I can find is ISO range, but that seems to be just what to display as options for manual menu, seems the auto ISO doesn't care about that range.
