Comparing Olympus to Fuji for macro
5

I have recently acquired used a EM5 III & 60/2.8 lens and been testing it vs my XT3+60/2.4 and TG6. I thought I would present my finding for anyone possibly interested in another system. Long story short, the Olympus setup is more capable:

1) IBIS and OIS in EM5 and TG6 help a lot with static objects. For the Fuji 60/2.4, I have to raise the ISO a lot in order to maintain a adequate SS. However Fuji ISO performance is also pretty good.

2) To get the most out of the EM5, you need to use the M mode in order to reduce the SS and increase the A to f7.1

3) In camera focus stacking can hugely improve DOF and IQ in macro. In my view the focus stacked image from the EM5 is the best

A macro shot using the ring flash. Was also pp in LR (mainly saturation)

Same subject with TG6 and in camera focus stacking (saturation applied in LR)

Exported from RAW with no additional pp

In camera focus stacking, no additional pp

SOOC from XT3. The 60mm/2.4 was used with two tubes extension to achieve almost 1:1 magnification.

Again SOOC, larger aperture, smaller DOF and lower ISO.

Hopefully I will get more samples in the coming weeks...
