I was considering selling my Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L ii lens and buying the RF 70-200mm f/2.8L. I have been reading reviews but haven’t convinced myself to make this move yet. I used my EF with the adapter and the R5 the other day and for me the reason I would switch would be for the lighter weight of the RF considering the EF is about 1 lb heavier and another 0.6 lbs for the adapter.

It is hard to rationalized though paying the difference between the sale of my EF and purchasing the RF.

Has anyone that has switched from the EF to RF find any other reasons why you made that choice?

Hi Cpharm86,

RF version is more compact and more light..
It means a lot to me..

And the new RF lens could focus closer than EF version and having better IS..

For the quality of the lens, I feel that RF version is very slightly better in wide open at 200mm.

However, the image quality difference should not be a factor to upgrade from EF to RF.

That's my two cents.

Best regards,
Peter
