Don't know enough about SD card innards and electricals to help more. It's possible that one pinout is called into play with the 64s that is left signal-free with the 32s.

That is one thing I was wondering.  But, I didn't think of looking into the card reader

The failed cards are UHS-II (I think).  They have two rows of contacts rather than one row.  But, I understood there was backward compatibility.

Anyway, I just took a quick peek and don't see anything obvious. I also tried them in both of the camera slots with the same failures.
