Increased Chip Resolution- Too much?

I'll ask my question with something which occurred with filmmakers.

As HiDef film making came into use, the video of actors was incredibly clear like never before. However in many cases as the resolution of movie cameras increased, the hi-def video captured too much data from people's faces, e.g. blemishes on skin, veins etc were very noticeable. As a result make-up artists, digital effects peeps had to remove these types of things.

With 100 meg sensors and such, has this, or will this happen to digital photography too?
