TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2 (Fujifilm X Mount) Lens Review

I write a review when a piece of equipment wins me over in an extraordinary way. The TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2 has done that. It works extremely well as a moderate telephoto on APS-C bodies for my favorite subjects and settings.

Pluses are build quality, sharpness, separation, bokeh, color rendering and creamy rendering of nostalgic subjects.

Negatives are green fringing wide open, extremely critical focusing (helicoid thread pitch?), flare and slight coma with strong light sources in the frame, and sharp-pointed aperture blade outlines in some bokeh highlights (when stopped down).

I found this lens an incredible value at $98 U.S., in December of 2020. Since then I've become more dubious about China's practices of copying technologies and competing unfairly through extremely low wages in its factories. So nothing is ever simple, but always a "mixed bag". Still, I marvel at what quality lenses TTArtisan has produced for my Fuji X Mount bodies. The 17, 35 and 50mm lenses are on my bodies a lot, and I'm very satisfied with all three for a total investment of just over $300 U.S., shipped.
