Incredible Ulanzi WL-1 with Sony FE 28-60/4-5.6! Cheap 22mm...

(note: this is not an ad, far from it )

Hi,

I never thought it would work. Small wide converter with FF lens. Originally I bought Ulanzi WL-1 because I had read that it works helpfully with 1" sensor Sony ZV-1 and RX100...

....So great was my surprise when I tried it with Sony FE 28-60/4-5.6 & A7RII !

It works surprisingly well at 28-40mm FL, at least if you stop down to f/8-F11 (<f/5.6 I got soft edges). At 28mm, it can give you something like 22-23mm wide angle. And pretty good IQ too, as you can see here:

Sony A7RII + Sony FE 28-60/4-5.6

WITHOUT Ulanzi wide converter, 28mm, f/5

Medium backlight (as you can see from the burning clouds, there is the sun shining), not the easiest situation for lens and contrast!!

And now with Ulanzi, 28mm, f/8:

Sony FE 28-60 + Ulanzi WL-1, 28mm, f/8

..With Ulanzi, 28mm, f/11:

Sony FE 28-60 + Ulanzi WL-1, 28mm, f/11

For comparison, here is one sample taken with Tamron 17-35 Di (older A-mount lens), f/8, 22mm (Sony A7RII):

Tamron 17-35, 22mm, f/8

Of course, this is not a highend solution, but it is a cheap and compact solution if you already have nice Sony FE 28-60 and occasionally need a wider angle than 28mm.

cheers,

Ari
