Hi,

According to the DP Review article I linked to in the OP (https://www.dpreview.com/news/0829786279/exclusive-olympics-photo-editor-confirms-canon-eos-r3-has-a-24mp-sensor), an unnamed editor at the Olympics confirmed to DP Review that the maximum size of R3 files is 6000x4000. This article is a follow-up on the Jeff Cable EXIF "leak". So it's fair to assume the sensor will be 24mp, unless these samples have some sort of a deliberate resolution restriction in their firmware.

Exactly. If the camera has a higher resolution sensor, but also offers a 24mp mode which Jeff and other OL photographers prefer (which is VERY likely in such case), then the images the editor receives will be 24mp. And Exif will also say 24mp. That was what I was trying to say.

This reminds me of the film “behind the curve” where the flat earth proponents kept doing experiments to prove the earth is flat and the evidence suggested otherwise resulting in the flat earthers having to stretch farther and farther to explain away the evidence so they could still believe...

Sure, Canon hasn’t officially announced the max resolution of the R3 but at this point enough evidence has piled up that I would be very surprised if it is different from 24MP.
