Laptop SSD Choice

Am ordering a Dell Precision 7760 17 inch 4K, i7-11800H, RTX A4000, 32gb 3200MHz RAM. This laptop has 4 SSD slots that are Gen 4 capable. On sale for 38% off.

I currently have a 4 year old Alienware 17 R4 with a 1tb NVME Gen 3 C drive and a 4tb SATA SSD for photos. Reliability is failing on this one with 4 motherboard replacements in past 6 months. Previous 12 years satisfactorily reliable with Precision and Alienware laptops.

I will likely not choose the extra heat and cost of Gen 4 SSD's vs good Gen 3 options.

The Dell SSD prices are ridiculous (about 2X the average retail cost), so I plan to install my own purchased on Amazon. The Dell Precision comes with heat sinks on each slot.

Option 1:

1tb C drive Samsung 970 EVOplus Gen 3 (already have this)

4tb storage drive Sabrent Rocket Gen 3 ($799.99)

Option 2:

4tb storage drive Sabrent Rocket Gen 3 ($799.99) There would be about 1.3tb free space after installing the OS, programs, files, and photos.

With this option, should I partition it for the OS?

TIA for your input.
